Tips to Help You Find the Best Deals at Boots and Save Money

Any time I’m shopping for toiletries, must-have beauty finds, or skincare products, I’m trying to find the best deals possible. Knowing how to find deals at Boots is one of my specialties – as there are so many ways you can earn more Advantage Card points and so many brilliant products to choose from.

This post will help you maximise the Boots Advantage Card benefits to earn the most points back for your shopping possible, and I’ll also share with you the best deals at Boots to help you pick up a bargain.

Personally I don’t love loyalty schemes much, as I would just prefer that everyone be given the best price when shopping with a brand. However, with an increasing number of companies offering loyalty schemes and cards having one is becoming something of a necessity if you want to save money at Boots, have access to the best deals at Boots, and other stores too.

These days more and more prices have become wildly inflated – meaning you can only find the best deals at Boots if you use an Advantage Card. You provide Boots with some of your purchasing habits and data and then they’re able to offer you lower prices and even cashback on your shopping as a thank you.

I’ve made it my own personal mission to never pay full price and, if you sign up to my Chloe’s Deal Club newsletter, you can receive a weekly email packed full of the very best freebies, bargains, special offers, deals, tips and tricks to help you make the most of every pound that you spend. You’ll find lots of the best deals at Boots feature regularly too.

Boots Star Gifts

Every Christmas, Boots offers a great range of Star Gifts, which are heavily discounted bundles or special offers with a variety of beauty, skincare, and fragrance products available. Each week in the run-up to Christmas, new Star Gifts are released, and previous years have seen amazing deals from brands such as No7, Soap & Glory, Liz Earle, Benefit, and The Ordinary.

Star Gifts have to be one of the best deals at Boots – and they’re perfect to gift to loved ones at Christmas time.

It’s free to join

If you’re not already a member of the Boots Advantage Card scheme then I highly recommend signing up. Not only is this free to join with no ongoing costs, but you can earn Advantage Card points every time you shop in store.

Use your Advantage Card when you shop in-store or online with Boots and you’ll earn 3 points for every £1 spent. Each point is worth 1p. This will soon build up when you’re bagging yourself the best deals at Boots.

You can let your points build up, and combine them with special offers and the best deals at Boots. Once you have enough points, you can redeem them for items. Subject to a minimum redemption of 100 Advantage Card points.

What I love to do is use my Advantage Card throughout the year and then use the points I’ve earned at the end of the year towards Christmas gift shopping. As Boots offers 3-for-2 on 100s of Christmas gift sets, this is a great way to combine redeeming points with getting the absolute best deals at Boots too.

Keep in mind you must have the full amount of Advantage Card points to cover the full price of the items you want to purchase. You can’t make a partial payment of points towards a product or service.

Access to Price Advantage prices

A display in Boots about the price advantage to save money when shopping in store or online

Look out for pink and white tickets in-store and online, which show you Price Advantage Offers. You’ll see two different prices. Non-cardholders pay the higher price, while the lower price is exclusive to Advantage Card users.

Advantage Cards and other loyalty cards allow brands to collect purchasing data from customers. Most supermarkets have loyalty schemes, and many beauty retailers are following suit. While I would prefer that everyone has access to the best deals at Boots, regardless of any loyalty card usage, it’s often a great way to save money at Boots and therefore I’ve got one.

You can sign up free, and can even store the card digitally on your phone, making it super handy to use when you shop for the best deals at Boots.

Discounts can be as high as 50% for selected items, and change frequently. Price reductions are automatically shown online, but you’ll have to scan your card in-store for them to be applied.

Bonus points offers in the Boots App

Sign into the Boots App and you’ll have access to special offers to use alongside the best deals at Boots. These offers are a mixture of tailored offers, based on your purchasing data, and offers available to all Advantage Card customers.

You’ll find a variety of offers including double points, bonus points on minimum spends, such as spending £20, discounts when you buy items from a specific brand or category, extra points on one time purchases and also access to exclusive competitions.

A variety of different offers can be loaded on to your Advantage Card, by selecting them individually within the app, and you can combine these in one shop, depending on the terms of each special offer.

Deal stacking is a fantastic way to earn yourself some extra Advantage Card points. Here is an example:

  • Double points on your next shop.
  • 400 points when you spend £40 in a single transaction.
  • 200 points when you spend £15 on vitamins and supplements.
  • 200 points when you spend £15 on intimate health products.

A spend of just over £50, with 3-for-2 offers also applied saving me additional money, earned me over 1,000 Advantage Card points, worth more than £10. This quickly adds up when shopping for the best deals at Boots, and I love to save my points for a bigger treat.

There are typically at least 10 unique offers on the Boots App that you can load onto your Advantage Card. This is a fantastic way to earn a considerable amount of points that will allow you to earn free products in the future.

Turn your empty beauty products into money with Recycle at Boots

I never throw away my empty beauty products because I use Recycle at Boots, previously known as Boots Scan 2 Recycle, to earn me money instead.

You can recycle empty blister packs, haircare, skincare, body care, toothpaste tubes, and much more.

There are two different recycling schemes, one for health, beauty and wellness products and one for medicine and vitamin blister packs.

Both schemes allow you to recycle empty items in-store and receive a voucher for Boots Advantage Card points when you spend £10 or more.

I’ve written you a full guide to Recycle at Boots to help you maximise your earnings.

Discount on Boots own brand

Boots have thousands of own label products across a variety of categories including health, beauty, baby, sun care and make-up. Advantage Card customers receive an automatic 10% discount on all of these own-brand products.

Double points during your Birthday month

You can receive double points for your Birthday month via the Boots app. You need to add your Birthday details to your account and make sure that you have opted in to marketing consents with Boots.

Once you’re ready to shop in store you can access the Advantage Card app, activate the promotion, then shop in-store as normal while swiping your card at the till.

Bonus points for customers over 60

Members aged 60+ can receive a generous 8 points for every £1 spent on selected Boots brands and exclusive products.

Sign up to the Boots Parenting Club

As soon as you find out you’re expecting a baby, until the day your child turns 5, you can become a member of the Boots Parenting Club and enjoy a few great benefits.

You’ll earn 8 points £1 spent on baby products, receive free gifts at different stages of your baby’s development and also find exclusive Parenting Club offers available on the Boots app.

When signing up for the first time you’ll be able to choose from one of two products for a welcome gift. These can vary but are typically a wash product or baby shampoo.

Earn cashback when shopping with Boots online

Shopping online can be really convenient if you’re short on time or have limited access to a local Boots store.

If you’re prone to a few too many impulse purchases then shopping online can help you to stay on track financially.

You can earn yourself cashback on these purchases that you’re already making, such as shopping on the Boots website, thanks to websites such as Quidco and TopCashback

Chloe sitting at a desk with a computer screen showing behind her displaying the TopCashback website to earn money as you shop online

These cashback websites allow you to shop with your favourite brands and retailers, such as Boots or LookFantastic, and will reward you with a little money back when you click through from their website and complete your online shop exactly as you usually would. If you want more information on how to use cashback effectively, check out TopCashback – Make £100s Shopping Online With Free Cashback.

At times you’ll receive a small % of your spend as cashback, and other times you’ll receive a flat fee, such as £1, every time you complete an online shop.

While clicking through from a cashback website will add a few seconds onto the time it takes to make your purchase it’s a great way to build up a small pot of money completely free. All you need to do is visit your cashback website of choice, search for Boots, click through to the Boots website and then complete your online shop as you usually would.

You can still pick up the best deals at Boots and combine using a cashback website with using your Boots Advantage Card to really maximise the money that you’re getting back. One more benefit of using websites such as TopCashback is they often negotiate voucher codes that you can use alongside earning cashback for a bonus saving.

By making cashback a part of your day-to-day shopping routine it soon starts to become a steady stream of money that will trickle in throughout the year. You can use these cashback earnings towards your big Christmas food shop or just to help out with the rising cost of living.

Use grocery cashback apps

Grocery cashback apps, such as Green Jinn, Shopmium, and CheckoutSmart, allow you to purchase selected grocery items and receive a full or partial reimbursement. These apps are all free to use and nice and straightforward to understand too.

Every week there are a variety of different offers on these grocery cashback apps and while the choice for Boots is pretty limited it’s still worth a browse before you shop for your best deals at Boots.

The available items are typically from brands that you already know and trust and often you’ll find they have new health products, snack bars, baby products and vitamins available. All of which can be found for purchase in Boots stores.

All you need to do is shop in-store, or online, as you usually would, but take a quick look at the shopping cashback apps beforehand. When you purchase an item with cashback available you’ll need to upload a photograph of your receipt via the grocery cashback app and then wait for your reimbursement to come in.

You’ll also find a free daily prize draw, to win £10, on CheckoutSmart if you upload your receipt – even if you haven’t purchased any eligible items.

Earn cashback with Chase

Use a cashback debit card, such as the one offered from Chase, will allow you to earn a small amount of cashback on your everyday spending. Use Chase as you do any other debit card, to pay for your purchases, and you’ll receive an automatic 1% cashback.

This is a fantastic way to save some money while you shop for the best deals at Boots and you can add your Chase debit card to your Apple Pay or other digital wallet for your convenience.

Earning a little money back when shopping for the best deals at Boots is fantastic and this is my favourite type of cashback!

Pay for your online shopping with a gift card

If you want to get a great extra cashback boost then you can purchase cashback gift cards, from JamDoughnut, everup or even TopCashback or Quidco’s gift card sections, and receive instant cashback.

Cashback rates vary, sometimes daily, across the different cashback gift card apps, but as a rough estimate you can expect to earn 2%-4% back when you use a Boots gift card to shop for the best deals at Boots.

Paying for your shopping with a gift card does add an extra step to your shopping process but you can simply pause at the checkout, use one of the gift card apps or websites, and within a few seconds you’ll have your gift card ready to redeem against the cost of your shopping.

Use the gift card at checkout, rather than your credit or debit card.

Receiving just 2% cashback each time you shop online, whether shopping for the best deals at Boots or elsewhere, would quickly add up to a considerable saving. If you also used cashback gift cards on your grocery shopping, you could be receiving 1-2 weeks’ worth of groceries for free every single year with the cashback you earned.

Note: Boots gift cards are only suitable for online purchases and can’t be redeemed in-store. Most of the best deals at Boots are available via both shopping methods though!

Consider using Click & Collect instead of Home Delivery

If you pass a Boots store, or live close by one, on your way home from work then you can save a few pounds by using Click & Collect and picking your shopping up at your local store, instead of booking a home delivery.

Click & Collect slots can cost as little as 25p and up to £1.75, while home delivery slots can range from £1.50 to £7.

The minimum spend for using Click & Collect is just £25, which makes it convenient if you only need a few items or want to book a top-up shop to collect on your way home from work.

Students receive 10% discount

If you hold a Boots Advantage Card, and a valid Student ID/TOTUM card/Student Beans ID then you can head in-store to the till at your nearest Boots store and activate your student membership.

You’ll receive a 10% student discount for in-store or online purchases.

Note: Student ID must have a valid end date to be added to your Boots account.
