My dog Poppy absolutely loves a trip to Pets at Home. I love to save money at Pets at Home, and so we often combine the two for a fun day out together filled with new toys, treats, and savings too.
Poppy is partial to a tennis ball, and loves the £1 toys that Pets at Home sell too. I’m a big fan of deal stacking, finding bargains and making the most of every pound that I spend.
In this post I’m going to talk to you about where to find discount codes, special offers, how to save money at Pets at Home when you bulk buy, signing up to subscriptions and I’ll share more information about the Pets at Home VIP club.
I’m here to help you, via my Chloe’s Deal Club newsletter, to make the most of your money. Every week I send out a newsletter jam-packed with special offers, freebies, discounts, bargains and much more. It’s my own personal mission to make sure that I never pay full price.
Let’s dive into my top tips to save money at Pets at Home and help you learn how to shop smart and save money on every single purchase that you make.
How to save money at Pets at Home
Poppy’s favourite Pets at Home products:
Snuffle Mat
Using a snuffle mat is a great enrichment activity for dogs of all ages, and Poppy loves to search for hidden treasures in the layers of her snuffle mat. Lick mats and slow feeder mats are a great idea to boost dog enrichment time and also help your dog to digest their food slower if they’re a bit of a speed eater.
Dry dog food, grated cheese, dog treats, small pieces of dog-safe fruit and even dog-friendly herbs all work great on a snuffle mat. I love to keep back a little of Poppy’s daily biscuit allowance and hide these within the layers of the mat.
Kong filled with peanut butter
Kong offer a range of fantastic toys as we love both the Kong Classic Chew and Kong Extreme Chew. These are great filled up with peanut butter, or you can purchase easy to dispense pastes in Chicken Liver, Cheddar Cheese and Peanut Butter too.
Speaking of Kong, we also love their balls, extreme flyer dog toy, and the Wubba Friends ballistic dog toy. Kong have good quality products which seem to withstand Poppy and her strong jaw.
Yaks and antlers
Both yaks and antlers are fantastic for dogs who love to chew. If you purchase the Scottish Highland deer ones, like I do, these are low in fat, long-lasting, and they’re eco-friendly being naturally shed by the deer.
These 100% natural dog chews are rich in nutrients, including calcium and phosphorus, and help to support your dog’s dental hygiene. You’ll find a variety of different sizes available to suit your own dog, but Poppy loves the large ones!
Natural dog chews are a great way to entertain your dog if you’re going to be busy at home or just as a reward after a training session.
£1 balls
Being a golden retriever Poppy is naturally designed to love retrieving things — including balls. I love that you can buy tennis balls from Pets at Home for just £1, or you can purchase a multipack of different coloured tennis balls from just £3.
Animology products
Both Poppy and I absolutely love the Animology dog range. They have a variety of fantastic pet grooming products, including no rinse dog shampoo, deep clean dog shampoo, fox poo dog shampoo, and we love this Flower Power Dog Body Fragrance Mist when Poppy needs a freshen-up before we travel home in the car.
What I love about the Animology range is they’re reasonably priced, easy to use and they cater to all types of dog breeds including offering a Curly Coat Dog Shampoo and they have lovely scents such as this Perfect Puppy Body Fragrance Mist.
Puppy items I really rate:
My golden retriever Poppy feels like she’s been a grown-up girl for most of my life, but I remember the puppy stages fondly, and these are some of the products from Pets at Home that I really rate and want to recommend to you today.
Self-warming dog beds
The Wainwright’s Puppy Adventurer Self Warming Dog Bed is an absolutely lovely self-warming bed has a heat-reflective layer that is designed to keep your little dog comfy and cosy. It has a dual-sided cushion that is machine washable and Poppy loved settling down in this after a muddy walk on an autumn afternoon.
This cosy bed will help your dog to stay warm, as it reflects their body heat and will give them a cosy environment to settle in while you’re in bed. You can even reverse the cushion so that your dog can rest on the cooler side in the warmer weather.
Puppy toys
Pets at Home has a vast range of fantastic puppy toys that are great to help with enrichment and keep your little puppy entertained when you’re busy.
These are reasonably priced, starting from under £1 for balls, and you’ll find a variety of textured toys, teddies, balls, rope toys, puppy rings, and even seasonal toys for occasions like Christmas and Halloween.
Puppy toys tend to get destroyed quite quickly and that’s why I love to purchase reasonably priced ones that are good quality too.
Interactive puzzles
The Nina Ottosson interactive puzzles are great for puppies and dogs alike, as they have to learn how to open the doors or press the buttons to access hidden treats. Poppy loves the opportunity to learn how to use new toys, and will spend ages looking inside each door or removing pieces to see if there are treats lurking underneath.
You’ll find different ability levels are catered for, depending on your breed of dog, from more simple treat dispensing toys to intricate advanced dog puzzles with multiple requirements needing to be met to gain access to the treats.
Puppy pads
These Simple Solution puppy training pads can be a great way to help get your puppy toilet trained. These are designed to hold up to 6 cups of liquid, and have a wetness indicator too. Personally we went without puppy pads when training Poppy, but these are fantastic for lining a dog crate or dog bed in the early days of puppy ownership.
Simple Solution also has several other great products, such as this urine destroyer stain & odour remover spray and this puppy aid training spray. This spray encourages your dog to help identify specific areas where you would like them to toilet. Perfect if you’ve got a lovely garden and only want to sacrifice a specific area of grass to your dog!
Canada Pooch harnesses
I absolutely love these harnesses for Poppy. They’re simple to fit, comfortable, designed to be anti-pull, and have front and back D-ring attachments for an easily adjustable fit.
The Canada Pooch harnesses also feature a seatbelt loop and even a handle to help you guide your dog in and out of the car.

Personally I’ve found that the vouchers from the VIP Club are very hit and miss and don’t always seem to be relevant to the items that I buy in-store.
Ask for a treat
Staff in Pets at Home will frequently offer a treat at the counter for your dog. If they forget to do so then don’t be shy in asking!
Bulk buy to save money at Pets at Home
When you find the perfect food for your furry friend you can save a significant amount of money when you bulk buy. I compared prices of several different popular dog foods and found that the saving for purchasing larger bags is considerable.
- Wainwright’s Complete Adult Dry Dog Food with Turkey and Rice works out at £5.49 per kilo if you purchase a one-off order for a 2kg bag. If you were to order a 15kg bag, this works out to just £3.14 per kilo. A saving of over 40%!
- Royal Canin Veterinary Hypoallergenic Adult Dry Dog Food works out at £10.15 per kilo if you purchase a one-off order for a 2kg bag. If you were to order a 14kg bag, this works out to just £6.04 per kilo. A saving of over 40%!
Sign up to a subscription to save money at Pets at Home
If you have dog food that you purchase regularly you can also set up an easy-repeat subscription with Pets at Home and you’ll typically save at least 5% versus the one-off purchase price.
Not only can you save money at Pets at Home doing this but you can also make sure you never run out of dog food again. They offer free Click & Collect or free home delivery on orders over £25.
If you combine bulk buying with using the easy-repeat subscription service, you can save money at Pets at Home – a considerable amount. Not only do the bulk bags already work out around 35-40% cheaper in many of the varieties available, but you can save at least 5% more with easy-repeat.
Pets at Home promise that you’ll always pay the cheapest price for your item. If the one-off purchase price is reduced to lower than your easy-repeat price this will be updated accordingly.
You can make changes to your easy-repeat plan by logging into the Pets at Home website and clicking on Manage Plan. Here you can easily update the frequency, change a delivery date, skip a delivery or cancel your subscription.
The largest bulk buy savings at Pets at Home can be found when you purchase dry food but you can also use the easy-repeat subscription service to save at least 5% on wet food purchases too.
Payday deals
If you like to stock up for the month on payday then you can save money at Pets at Home with their Payday Deals. You’ll find free delivery offers on selected items such as dog crates, dog flaps and dog beds, further discounts on dry food bulk buys and exclusive online only deals.
Earn cashback when shopping online
There are lots of benefits to shopping online. As well as being convenient for busy lifestyles, helping reduce impulse purchasing versus in-store shopping, and helping you stick to a budget you can also easily see if you’re about to overspend and remove items from your basket before checking out.
Websites such as TopCashback and Quidco allow you to earn a little cashback on purchases you’re already making, such as shopping with Pets at Home.
Cashback takes a while to become available to withdraw from cashback websites but if you’re already making the purchases why not earn yourself some free money in the process?
Visiting a cashback website, and clicking through to your retailer of choice, takes under 30 seconds typically and is very straightforward. All you need to do is visit your cashback website of choice. I love TopCashback and Quidco and often check the rates on both, and then you’ll search for Pets at Home. Click through and then complete your shop as you usually would.
More information on how to use Topcashback can be found in this blog post.
Earn cashback when shopping in Pets at Home with Chase
Chase is a digital bank that offer a cashback debit card. Every time you use this debit card you have the opportunity to earn 1% cashback on just about any of your everyday purchases. All you need to do is use your Chase cards for purchases, instead of your usual credit or debit card of choice.
You’ll earn 1% cashback in your Chase account for the purchases that you make. This is a lovely way to save money, whether you’re wanting to shop for the best deals at Pets at Home, or if you just want to save money on groceries.
Check out the latest offers
The Pets at Home website has an entire section dedicated to their latest offers. Here you can find multi-buy offers, special reduced prices and online only exclusives.
Get paid to walk your dog
If you’re the fortunate owner of a lovely dog you can actually earn gift cards just for taking your dog for a walk. Download the Biscuit app, sign up for a free account and once you’ve provided a few details about your dog you’ll be able to start getting paid!
Biscuit will suggest an amount of time that you should be walking your dog for and how many walks they should be receiving.
Every day that you walk your dog you can earn 25 ‘Biscuits’ simply by opening the Biscuit app and recording your walk.
Biscuit has to be in my top 5 all-time favourite apps because I’ve been using it for over 2 years now and have earned gift cards for supermarkets, coffee shops and restaurants just for walking my dog, Poppy.
Once you have received enough biscuits you can redeem them within the Biscuit app for gift vouchers for restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets and more.
You can earn 25 biscuits per day, every day of the week. You’ll also receive a bonus of 50 biscuits once you’ve completed 3 walks per week and which means you can earn a £10 coffee shop voucher in as little as three weeks or a £10 Amazon voucher in six weeks.
If you want to increase your steps, but want to do so from home, then check out the walking pad I absolutely love. It goes up to 10km/h, has a remote to control the speed and requires no assembly. You can open the box, plug it in and begin walking at home in minutes.
