When you earn a little bit of money back every time you buy products or services these amounts quickly add up. This is something that everup can help us with. 

If you save up these small amounts of money that you earn you’ll quickly have hundreds or even thousands of pounds that you can spend on things you love. 

In this everup guide I’m going to be sharing with you everything you need to know about everup, including how to use the app, what exactly everup is, and how to get the most out of this fantastic app.

What is everup? 

everup is a cashback app that is completely free to download and use. The everup app is designed to help you earn money back on everyday purchases. The ones that we all need to make, like groceries, by allowing you to purchase gift cards which come with the bonus of a little bit of cashback. 

When you use everup you can earn instant cashback on your purchases at a vast array of different retailers, both online and in-store. The everup app is simple to use and will add just 1-2 minutes onto the time it takes you to make a purchase – and best of all it really will help you make lots of lovely free money at the same time! 

In the everup app there are around 150 retailers, all offering different amounts of cashback when you purchase a gift card, and the rates will typically range from 2% – 10%. On occasion there are promotions that offer even higher rates of cashback, with a handful of retailers offering you as much as 20% back. 

In a nutshell – you buy a gift card, you use that gift card to pay for your shopping instead of your credit or debit card, then you receive instant cashback in your everup account. You can then use this cashback to put towards more gift cards, or even withdraw it as real cash if you prefer. 

You’ll find a huge amount of different retailers on the everup app, including restaurants, holiday companies, supermarkets, clothing stores and much more. 

You’ll easily be able to earn cashback on your everyday spending, on things like groceries, and on those larger and more infrequent special occasion purchases too, such as holidays, white goods or even when you stock up on make-up or toiletries. 

As well as receiving cashback on your gift card orders you can earn virtual coins, which can be spent on games to win extra money. There are a variety of games, which I’ll cover in more detail further into this post, and these can have prizes as high as £750. 

It’s really convenient to buy gift cards, as you can use either Apple Pay or Instant Bank Payment, and it takes just seconds (most of the time!) for your gift card to load. 

One of my favourite features of everup is that you can actually use the cashback you earn towards the purchase of another gift card – and earn cashback again! What a lovely cycle of free money that you can repeat forever! 

How does everup work?

The short explanation is that you use the free everup app to purchase gift cards and you’ll then redeem those gift cards when you’re shopping for products in-store or online, instead of paying with your bank account or credit card. 

You’ll earn cashback each time you purchase a gift card and this cashback can then be used towards the purchase of more gift cards or even withdrawn to your bank account, subject to a £10 minimum cashout. 

I’m going to break down how to use everup step-by-step, just to help you get earning that lovely cashback as quickly as possible. 

How to actually use everup: 

• Download the everup app from your phone’s app store. It’s available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. 
• Sign up to everup’s free cashback app using this referral link and the code REF-CHLOE-DC to earn yourself 10M in-app Coins once you’ve redeemed £10+ in cashback towards buying gift cards.
• Browse the everup app for your favourite retailers either by using the search function, or by browsing through the different categories in the gift card shop, to find all of the retailers you love to shop with. Make sure you’re looking at the brand info and where you can use the gift card before you make a purchase. This tells you whether the gift card can be used in-store or online, or both, and if there’s a limit on the number of gift cards you can use per transaction.
• Purchase your gift card of choice. You’ll see the amount of cashback, and any coins, you’ll earn before you go to the checkout. 
• Use your gift card when you shop in-store or online. 
• Instantly receive your cashback and coins. You can then use your earned cashback right away, and use your coins to play the games. More on those below. 

All you’re doing is adding one small step to your purchase habits, which takes an extra 1-2 minutes on average. You can shop with your favourite retailers as you usually would, in-store or online, and cashback from everup is credited to your account instantly.

There’s no need to wait for cashback to become payable like you would with Airtime, TopCashback, Quidco or similar cashback companies – which feels like a real win!

How to play the games on everup: 

Each time you purchase a gift card using the everup app you’ll also receive coins that you can use to play their games. You’ll find several different game types:

Daily Raffle

This is a free daily draw. Prizes on offer range from coins right up to gift cards for great brands including airbnb, Zalando, Halfords, JD Sports, Boots, Currys and Waitrose. 

Spin to win

You can redeem your coins for spins on one of the prize wheels. Wheel spin entry fees range from 5k coins up to 500k coins and you can win coins, cash or even gift cards. 

Scratch to win

You can redeem your coins for scratch tickets. Scratch card entry fees range from 20k to 100k and you can win up to £5. 

Personally I save most of my coins for the cashback and cashback+ wheels, as most spins on these wheels will win real cash prizes. 

A feature that I love about the games is if you want to save time you can play up to 8 wheel spins in one go, without waiting for the wheel to spin each time. Just hit the plus button, next to the number 1, to increase the number of spins you purchase, and then press play and it’ll take just a few seconds to show you the results of multiple spins. 

Which retailers are on everup?

The retailers on everup are subject to change, and sometimes disappear from the app entirely, while the cashback rates on offer can change too – sometimes frequently. If you see a retailer you love then be sure to pick up a gift card ready for your next shop.

You’ll find retailers in a ton of different categories including supermarket, food & drink, electronics, sports, toys, beauty, baby, and my personal favourite – travel & leisure. 

There’s a great section called Top Cashback Deals within the everup app where you can see the highest cashback rates on offer. These rates can be as high as 20%! 

You’ll find some brands listed on everup, such as Aldi, whose gift cards don’t always come with the option to earn cashback. You can still receive coins and use them to play games, which is a great way to earn a little bit of money back, even from brands that don’t always offer cashback on gift cards.

My top tips for using everup: 

1. Use gift cards to pay for your groceries. This is SUCH an easy win when it comes to earning cashback. Most of us are shopping for food at least once a week, if not more, which gives us a lot of opportunities to earn a little bit of money back. You’ll find most of the larger supermarkets on everup, and you can combine gift card use with Clubcard Prices, or other similar supermarket deals, to make the largest savings. 
2. Buy gift cards for Birthday and Christmas. If you like to gift your family gift cards for their special occasions then you can purchase these via the everup app and earn yourself a little back in the process. If you’re more of a gift giver then you can always purchase the gifts with a gift card instead. 
3. Stock up when cashback rates are boosted. From time to time everup will run promotions where the cashback rates are increased. While I don’t recommend you keep hold of gift cards for long, just in case retailers go bust and you lose out, it can be a nice idea to buy a supermarket gift card for a few weeks shopping. This can help you with budgeting your money, as you know you have your gift card ready when it’s time to pay for your groceries and you’ll maximise the cashback that you earn too. 
4. Consider if you’ll be returning items. If you’re going to be purchasing lots of items, perhaps you’re looking for a new outfit for a wedding or party, or need to try several different sizes to find the right fit for you, then bear in mind that any returns will likely be refunded back onto the gift card – or you’ll receive a different gift card or voucher code to use against a future shop. I always recommend that you avoid having large amounts of money tied up on gift cards for long periods of time.
5. Buy gift cards when you’re already in-store. It feels like prices in the supermarkets change on the daily, which can make it a little bit difficult for budgeting, so what I like to do is purchase gift cards when I’m in the supermarket, just before I head to the till. Using scan as you shop can help with this as you’ll have an idea how much you’ve spent before you head to the till. As gift cards typically show up within a minute or two – it’s easy enough to do, though I do make sure I’m disconnected from the in-store Wi-Fi to help the gift cards come through quickly. 
6. Use your loyalty cards. You can still use loyalty cards when you’re shopping with your favourite brands and paying with a gift card. This is a great way to work towards free coffee or earn some loyalty points for money off a future shop.
7. Read the terms thoroughly before you purchase a gift card. Most retailers have terms and conditions for items that can’t be purchased using gift cards. Also, some retailers will only allow you to redeem your gift cards in-store, or online, so make sure you have a little look through the terms before you purchase a gift card.
8. Refer your friends to earn yourself some extra money. Once you’re signed up to the everup app, you can obtain your own unique refer-a-friend code, which you can share with your friends and loved ones to earn you both a bonus. There are different tier levels to the referral scheme, which means the more people you refer, the more coins you earn per signup, and you’ll receive boosted raffle entries too. You can find your unique referral code by clicking on the Ticket Icon within the app, located at the end of the bottom bar. You’ll then see your referral code, and referral link, as well as the number of sign-ups you’ve received, the number of referrals that have redeemed £10+, and the total amount of cashback and coins this has earned you. 
9. Turn on notifications. Everup frequently increase cashback rates, for short amounts of time, and sometimes they’ll boost the refer-a-friend bonus rate, so keep notifications on if you want to be kept up to date. Also, when you refer friends, you’ll be able to receive a notification when they cash out for the first time, allowing you to spend the coins that you earned on the everup games as a fun way to win yourself a little extra cash. 
10. Follow everup on Instagram. The everup Instagram page has lots of help on how to use the app as well as information about upcoming boosted cashback rates, competitions and more.

Is everup safe?

They aren’t storing any of your card or bank details when you buy a gift card, and they have over 100 5* reviews on Trustpilot too. 

How much cashback can you earn with everup?

The number of purchases that you need to make in your day-to-day life is really the only thing that’ll limit the amount of cashback that you can earn. I would never recommend you buy items that you don’t need just for cashback, but there are a number of great ways to make yourself some money back on those everyday spends we’re all making. 

As an example, if you shop for groceries once a week this gives you 52 opportunities per year, where you could be earning cashback, just by buying a gift card to make a purchase that you were already going to be making.

With the average cashback rate for grocery retailers on everup being 2 to 3% you could earn yourself enough cashback to pay for a full week of grocery shopping every year – just by paying for your shopping with gift cards instead of your usual payment method. This is a huge saving for just one household category. It shows how quickly the small amounts add up. 

The main barrier to earning cashback is actually remembering to purchase a cashback gift card before you pay for your shopping – but I’ve found over time it just becomes automatic to check everup. 

How do I cash out on everup?

When you have £10 in your everup account you can withdraw this to your bank account. Alternatively you can use the cashback you’ve earned towards a gift card, subject to minimum purchase levels.

Most of the gift cards on the everup app have a minimum redemption of £5, but you can use part cashback (from £1) and part bank payment or Apple Pay to buy gift cards. 

Can you use everup and TopCashback together?

Yes! You can earn money purchasing a gift card via everup, and then cashback from TopCashback, but this is subject to the terms and conditions of the retailer you’re buying from. Some retailers won’t pay cashback on gift card redemptions, however, I always give it a go! 

Click through from the TopCashback website as you usually would, then complete your purchase using your gift card you’ve purchased via everup as the payment method.

You’ll want to check that the gift card you’re purchasing is suitable for online purchases, as some retailers such as Foot Locker, will only allow you to use gift cards in-store.

Other retailers, such as Boots, only allow you to use gift cards online, which is a shame as I’d love to combine shopping in-store at Boots with earning points using Recycle at Boots!

Cashback stacking, such as this particular method, is not guaranteed to work, but often does! Never make purchases on the basis of cashback that you expect to receive and always look at cashback as a bonus for purchases you would already be making.
